The negotiation is on! Spurred on my comments on a previous post,  I called the Apple Store in Fort Lauderdale, and apparently managers have some discretion on returns. The normal rule is returns are ok on opened merchandise within 14 days – the condition is the customer pays a 10% restocking fee.

Fort Lauderdale Apple Store has good customer service. Will Toronto?

Apple Store Fort Lauderdale was willing to take it back after 21 days.  “Just bring it in today” she said on Sunday.

I explained our geographical barrier to that suggestion, and she asked whether I would be visiting any Apple Store in North America soon.  It looks like I’ll be in Toronto for a few days in November, so she said I should call the Apple Store Toronto and try to pre-negotiate a late return.
